Our Queen's Celebration

Although it was ‘business as usual’ for the Queen on Wednesday 9th September as she was at work in the Scottish Borders, it was a very special day;  she became the longest reigning monarch, overtaking her Great, Great Grandmother, Queen Victoria, who reigned of 63 years and 216 days.

To mark this historical day and help make it a day to remember our pupils took part in special assemblies, celebrating and commemorating this special occasion. Each year group has been studying the historical significance of the reign of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.  This has included some of the major events that have occurred during her reign and also the more personal aspects of her family and life.

We all enjoyed singing ‘God Save the Queen’ and giving a rousing three cheers for her long reign, wishing her joy and good health as our monarch in the years ahead.

Everyone received a special commemorative coin to remind us of this record breaking point in history.
