Netball Super Stars!

A group of 30 children from Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy recently attended a netball tournament at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy.  This is an annual event and is always very well attended by the local Bourne area primary schools.

The children from Bourne Abbey had been training hard and after having played well in the recent district netball tournament held at Spalding High School they were all looking forward to playing more competitive matches.

The children were playing High Five netball, an adapted version of the full size game.  The game has just five positions rather than the normal seven and uses a rotation system to allow children to experience all the playing positions.

The three Bourne Abbey teams were split into two leagues.  The A and B teams playing Bourne Westfield’s A and B teams and the C team playing some of the smaller schools in our cluster – Edenham, Pointon and Thurlby.

All three Bourne Abbey teams played extremely well, even though, for some of the children this was their first experience of competitive play.  Excellent team work and competitive, supportive play were demonstrated throughout the afternoon.  The C team finished in joint second place in their league.  The B team finished in third place and the A team won all their matches and finished in first place in their league.

Congratulations to all those children who took part on the day and represented the school in such a fantastic way!
