Learning All About Diwali . . . .

On Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd November, Year 3 enjoyed a two day dazzling Diwali extravaganza. Over the course of the 2 days, we spent time dressing up in traditional Indian clothing, learning about ancient Hindu traditions and taking part in Bollywood style dancing. We also studied beautiful Rangoli patterns and produced our own colourful creations using stencils and brightly coloured pastels. To mark the end of our learning about Diwali celebrations, each class cooked a different Indian dish to share at our banquet. Even though we were a little worried about some of the unusual ingredients, we all thoroughly enjoyed gobbling up the rich spinach and sweet potato dahl, the spicy vegetable korma, the chewy chapatis and the sticky, sweet coconut ice.  Happy Diwali and Namaste one and all!
