Servant life for Year 5

On Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th October we travelled to Burghley House to experience life as a Victorian servant. We learned about all of the different servant roles in the house and even tried out some of the jobs. They were quite fun for 10 minutes at a time but doing them from 5:30am until 11pm would be a different story. We also took a tour of Burghley House to see the rooms that Queen Victoria stayed in during her visit in the 1800s; we walked through the same rooms that she would have done all those years ago! We are going to continue our learning about servant life back at school and use our experience to help us really understand what life was like.
