Hill Holt Wood visit - July 2016

As a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, this topic is interwoven into the curriculum at Bourne Abbey, therefore this was a fantastic opportunity to see rights highlighted in an outside environment. The pupils enjoyed making Medieval bread and tasting Medieval food, thatching and constructing a ‘bug hotel’. In addition the rights of Anglo Saxon peasants, suffragettes and people persecuted for their religious beliefs were discussed through an entertaining theatre production. At the end of the day we were presented with a ‘Freedom Tree’ which will be planted in the school grounds. The pupils had a hugely enjoyable, if muddy day in the woods, whilst considering the important rights that all people are entitled to but do not always have. Using the link below you can watch some of our pupils enjoying the day.
