District Netball Tournament

Twenty seven teams from schools across Bourne, Market Deeping and Spalding took part.

The children had been practising hard in their lessons and at netball club.  At primary school the children play ‘High Five’ netball with only five children playing on the court at any time.  The other main difference to normal regulation netball is that the children rotate positions at half time and between matches to encourage them to learn the role of each position.  This in itself adds an additional challenge to the game!

The children were very excited and nervous in equal measure to be attending the tournament and to be representing the school.  The standard of competition was very high as always.  The A team won both their first round matches but went on to lose the next match 4-2 to the eventual winning team leaving them finishing in 5th place. The B team won one of their first round matches but lost the second.  Although they went onto win their next match due to the large number of teams taking part this meant that they finished in 17th place!

Both teams played exceptionally well throughout the day and displayed excellent individual skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.  A massive well done to all the children who took part!!
