Just Lincs Equality Ambassadors

We have been helping the Children’s Commissioner, Anne Longfield, to formulate her new business plan. A group of Y6 pupils put forward their views and ideas on why certain groups of children in society might feel left out; these opinions were taken on board by the Children’s Commissioner and used in her business plan. She wrote to Bourne Abbey to thank us for our work and mentioned the school in the plan.

In addition to this, Y5 pupils from Elsea Park and Y5/6 pupils from Bourne Abbey have been working with JUST Lincolnshire. JUST Lincolnshire is the 'single equality' organisation in the County and aims to make a real difference to the lives of people from all backgrounds by championing equality, tackling discrimination and celebrating the richly diverse make up of Lincolnshire. We learned about the difficulties disabled people might have (including wearing glasses to highlight visual impairment). We then discussed the right of everyone to be treated equally, whatever their differences and hope to lead an assembly in our schools to highlight this.
