District Netball Tournament 2018

Ten teams from schools across Bourne, Market Deeping took part in the event.

The children had been practising hard in their lessons and at netball club.  At primary school the children play ‘High Five’ netball with only five children playing on the court at any time.  The other main difference to normal regulation netball is that the children rotate positions at half time and between matches to encourage them to learn the role of each position.  This in itself adds an additional challenge to the game!

The children were very excited and nervous in equal measure to be attending the tournament and to be representing the school.  The standard of competition was very high as always.  The A team comfortably won all their group matches and went through to the play offs for first, second and third places.  The B team lost just one of theirs however this put them into the play offs for fourth, fifth and sixth place.  The B team finished in fourth place overall and the A team won all their final matches and finished in overall first place and will now go to the County Finals in Grantham in March.

Both teams played exceptionally well throughout the day and displayed excellent individual skills, teamwork and sportsmanship.  A massive well done to all the children who took part!!
