Cross Country

It was a beautiful autumnal day and the children were very excited and looking forward to competing.  For the majority of our Year 3 and 4 children this was their first cross country run and a lot of them were feeling very nervous.  Despite their nerves the children showed real determination and commitment and put in some fantastic individual performances.

This is a team event however, with the positions of the top 5 runners being taken into account.  Sixteen local schools took part and were divided into categories depending on the number of children in the school.

Both schools had a very successful day.  The Year 5&6 girls’ team from Bourne Abbey and the Year 3 & 4 boys’ team from Bourne Elsea Park won their competitions coming away with the winner’s trophies and gold medals. The Year 5&6 boys, Year 4 boys and Year 4 girls from Bourne Abbey all finished in second place, winning the silver medals and the Year 3&4 girls and Year 5&6 boys from Bourne Elsea Park finished in third place, winning the bronze medals.

Particular congratulations to the following children from Bourne Abbey - Billy Clark in Year 4 and Lloyd Barker in Year 5 who both finished in 2nd place in their races and to Olivia Mahoney who finished 3rd, Jodie Cooke who finished 2nd and Mia Ramsamy who finished 1st in the Year 5&6 girls race.

Mrs Clare Ladley, PE Leader, said “A fantastic performance for all the children who took part!  Well done!”
