Race for Life

Ready, steady go! The children at Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy have been putting on their running shoes and raising money for an extremely worthy cause on Thursday 23rd June.

Pupils from all year groups took part in the schools very first Race for Life event raising money for Cancer Research UK.  Similar to the races that thousands of women and girls take part in across the country, the day saw pupils running, jogging and walking in 7 separate races for 30 minutes to raise sponsorship.

The school event allowed pupils of all ages and both boys and girls to take part and many pupils ran with back signs showing who they were running for or in memory of.  The races were buzzing with a fantastic atmosphere as the pupils encouraged each other and embraced the message behind the event.  A Year 5 pupil said “I’m so proud of myself for doing this. I can’t give up.  If you have cancer you can’t just give up.  You’ve just got to keep on fighting.”
