Farm to Fork

 Year One pupils from Bourne Abbey C of E Primary Academy have recently been on a behind the scenes tour of the Bourne Tesco Superstore as part of their Healthy Week activities.

As part of the ‘Farm to Fork’ initiative, led by Vivien Hamilton at the store, the tours allowed pupils a sneak peek in the bakery including the proving cupboards and they were able to enjoy some yummy turtle shaped bread baked especially for them!

After visiting the delicatessen and tasting two different British cheeses, the highlight of the tour was standing in the ‘Ice Cave’ freezer which was a chilly -20 degrees!  Above all, the visit allowed the children to find out about the origins of their food and to see the variety of different healthy options available.  Every Little Helps!
