Who's the bravest?

During their assembly, Year 1s shared their findings with parents and carers about these 2 great explorers. Beginning with the qualities needed to be a hero (curiosity, focus, creativity, risk-taking, courage and perseverance) they told us about the dreadful food aboard Columbus' ships, including maggot infested hard-tack! We learnt about how USA pipped the Soviet Union to the post in the Space Race to get a man on the moon first and looked at some amazing spacesuit designs. The fantastic singing got us thinking about 'sailing the ocean blue' and 'bouncing around in the lunar gravity'. We ended the event by asking the audience to vote for who they thought was the greatest explorer. And the winner was.....Christopher Columbus!
