Year 3 Stone Age Dig

Year 3 had a fabulous first day back when they found out they would be exploring an archaeological dig site in the middle of the environmental area.

All the children had a brilliant time examining the different artefacts and discussing what they thought they may have been or have been used for during the Stone Age.  After returning to the classroom they found out more information about them and had an opportunity to handle the different artefacts including woolly mammoth skulls, stone age tools, a clay pot and a sabre tooth tiger skull. Year 3 were then set the challenge of writing a non-fiction report about their archaeological dig including all the facts they had learnt about the different artefacts. We can’t wait to discover more about the Stone Age.
